Chief of Staff

About Us

Complyfirst is a compliance workflow automation platform. We help compliance teams at fintechs and banks automate their most painful workflows. Our early use cases are regulatory reporting, suspicious activity reports (SARs), and audit reporting — with more being added constantly.

Our platform removes 80% of manual work, freeing compliance teams to focus on reviewing, not doing. We grew 6x last year and are hiring across the business.

Role Overview

We're hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO and make the business run better. You'll sit at the centre of the business — tracking what matters, unblocking what's stuck, and making sure the right things actually get done. You'll be the connective tissue between strategy and execution. If you thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and take personal ownership of outcomes, this is for you.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day

Top priorities (the 3 biggest focus areas of this role):

  • Run the CEO's priorities: translate what's in the CEO's head into structured plans, decisions, and actions. Help triage inbound, prepare for meetings, and make sure time is spent on the highest-leverage things. Some days that means booking travel, others it means preparing a board update - you don't consider either beneath you.
  • Own execution across the business: track key workstreams, hold owners to account, flag risks early, and make sure commitments don't fall through the cracks. You're not doing everything, but you're making sure everything gets done.
  • Strategic and commercial support: support the CEO on business development, partnerships, and sales operations. This includes research, outreach, proposal drafting, preparing for demos, and helping move deals forward.

Other day-to-day activities:

  • Lead special projects: own high-priority projects from start to finish. New market entry, a product launch, a hiring push. You own it end to end, not just the coordination.
  • Build for scale: identify where things are ad hoc, inefficient, or stuck in someone's head, and fix it. We're a small team now. You're building the infrastructure for what comes next.
  • Document what works: capture processes in Confluence so the business scales without breaking and institutional knowledge lives somewhere useful.
  • Support hiring and onboarding: as the team grows, you'll help with candidate coordination, onboarding planning, and making sure new hires hit the ground running.
  • Keep us organised: Jira for project tracking, HubSpot for clean pipeline and contact data, Confluence for everything else.
  • Investor and stakeholder communications: manage investor updates and follow-ups, prepare materials for fundraising conversations, and maintain a clear picture of company performance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extreme ownership: if something fails on your watch, you don't explain why - you fix it. You close loops without being asked.
  • Thinks in data: every recommendation you make is backed by numbers. You're comfortable with pipeline metrics, burn, NRR, and what they mean.
  • Strong writer: you can draft a crisp investor update, a sharp email, or a clear internal document without it needing a full rewrite. Tone matters to you.
  • Technically comfortable: you're not a developer, but you pick up new tools fast and use AI to move faster.
  • Discreet and trustworthy: you'll be across sensitive conversations - investor relations, legal matters, hiring and firing. Discretion is non-negotiable.
  • Breadth is non-negotiable: you can run a board memo, manage a hiring process, and work through a financial model in the same week. You don't have a lane - you have range.

This role is not for you if…

  • You need a defined remit. This role has a wide scope, and it will change as the business changes.
  • You need things to be fully figured out before you start. We're early-stage and ambiguity is the default.
  • You manage up with status updates instead of outcomes.
  • You're looking for a strategy-only role. This is execution-heavy and you'll get your hands dirty.
  • You don't take personal accountability. If something falls through the cracks on your watch, we expect you to own it.
